Sales Director

We are looking for a results-driven and strategic Sales Director to help lead SMEB’s Issuing division. The ideal candidate will have extensive leadership and managerial experience with direct reports, a strong background in fintech and payments, and a proven track record of delivering revenue growth through strategic partnerships and product innovation. This leadership role focuses on Issuing across the B2B ecosystem.

Strategic Objectives

  • Define Vision: Develop the strategic roadmap for Issuing aligned with SMEB’s growth objectives.
  • Partnership Development: Identify and cultivate high-value partnerships across technology, finance, and retail sectors.
  • Revenue Targets: Set and achieve ambitious revenue goals through innovative product offerings and market expansion in the UK, Europe and globally.

Tactical Execution

  • Sales Planning: Develop and execute sales plans with clear KPIs and milestones, driving product rollouts for Issuing to generate growth.
  • Market Outreach: Prioritise high-impact opportunities in Issuing, Banking as a Service and embedded finance, negotiating mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and guide a team of sales professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.

Operational Excellence

  • Performance Monitoring: Regularly review partnership and sales performance, ensuring objectives are met.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, marketing, and operations teams to ensure seamless delivery and execution.
  • Data-Driven Strategy: Utilise analytics to inform decisions and refine strategies for optimal impact.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 7 years in strategic partnerships, business development, or leadership roles within fintech or payments.
  • Strong expertise in card issuing and payments.
  • Proven leadership experience, including managing direct reports and building high-performing teams.
  • Digital first in Issuing, Banking as a Service, embedded finance, wallets, and AI-driven financial tools. Background in cash loading and deposits desirable.

Skills and Competencies

  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong negotiation and deal-closing expertise.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data in decision-making.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

Education

Senior Business Development Manager

We are seeking a results-oriented Senior BDM to lead the growth of SMEB’s Issuing division. This role focuses on Issuing solutions for SMEs and B2B clients. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in payments, digital banking and financial services, a proven track record in new business development, and the ability to prospect new sales opportunities, build pipeline, close deals and deliver revenue growth through innovative solutions.

Business Development Objectives

  • Market Expansion: Identify and secure new business opportunities across SME, fintech, and corporate sectors to grow SMEB’s Issuing and white-label solutions.
  • Revenue Growth: Drive revenue by closing high-value deals in Issuing and cross-border payments, contributing to SMEB’s overall financial targets.
  • Solution Selling: Position SMEB’s Issuing capabilities as the preferred choice for multi-currency, cross-border, and embedded finance needs.
  • Targeted Outreach: Engage decision-makers in sectors requiring issuing solutions, digital banking, and white-label solutions.
  • Negotiation and Closing: Lead negotiations, structure complex deals, and secure sustainable partnerships.
  • Client Success: Work with internal teams to deliver seamless client onboarding and ensure long-term satisfaction.

Sales Operational Excellence

  • Performance Tracking: Monitor and report on KPI metrics for Issuing and payment services, adapting strategies to meet or exceed targets.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with product, marketing, and operations teams to refine solutions based on the Client’s needs.
  • Market Insights: Use payments industry trends and partner feedback to shape business development strategies and identify growth areas.

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in business development, sales, or customer success in fintech, financial services, or payments.
  • Expertise in Issuing, BaaS, cross-border payments, and FX solutions.
  • Proven success in developing and closing high-value deals.

Skills and Competencies

  • Hunter style as standard with passion for new lead generation.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage market data to inform strategy.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Familiarity with multi-currency issuing platforms and embedded finance products.
  • Knowledge of a second language is desirable for supporting international clients.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field.

We are looking for someone to take over our social media for our brands and services. To create insightful, exciting and valuable content that people want to engage with. We need our vision of the world and SME payments brought to life and become a reality for SMEs across the UK and, in the future, the world!

 

Who we are looking for:

  • First and foremost you must love social media and have an understanding of how paid social media works
  • Be able to react quickly and create content that fits with our brand and ethos
  • Have the ability to produce reports of the impact campaigns have and where to focus attention next

 

Your experience:

  • At least one year’s experience of creating and posting content on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.
  • Experience of reporting findings to senior management level.
  • Graphic and some video experience.
  • Ability to take text and create exciting content.
